When It Is: Wednesday, May 19th, 2021 – 9 am EST
What It Is: The Partnership for Clean Competition will host a virtual scientific research poster session. All researchers will be asked to submit a short video presentation of their virtual poster, which will consist of an oral presentation over a slide deck with no more than five slides. All poster presentations will be collected and distributed digitally by the PCC. All anti-doping focused research in the six categories listed are eligible regardless of funding entity.
The top six poster presentations—one from each of our six categories—will be chosen and broadcast live to a virtual room on May 19th at 9 a.m. EST. We will also host breakout rooms for Q&A with the researchers in the top six. A $250 cash prize, free registration to the #PCC2022 conference, and recognition through PCC channels will be awarded to each of the top six posters.
The goal of these presentations is to allow greater exposure for junior members of research teams, while also creating opportunities to discuss research that may be early-stage or not be developed enough for publication. The idea is to create a collaborative environment to help advance the growth of new science and scientists.
Specifications: Each presenter will submit a video, using a short slideshow as their “poster.”
- Talks should not be longer than 7 minutes
- Each slideshow should not have more than 5 slides, not counting a title slide which may also be included
- Entrants must have their abstract pre-approved by submitting at the link below
- Videos must be submitted by May 2nd (extended from April 28th), 2021 in either .mov or .mp4 format
- Entries must be for one of six categories
- New/improved test methods to detect and deter the use of banned and illegal substances
- Recent developments in passport testing strategies
- Metabolism and pharmacokinetics of doping agents
- Alternative specimens, (ex. oral fluid, dried blood/plasma spots) for testing
- Social science projects focusing on elite athletes in Olympic, Paralympic, or professional sports
- Pilot study projects – preliminary data potentially opening new avenues in anti-doping
Who We’re Looking For: Junior members of PCC-funded research teams will receive priority, though Principal Investigators will be considered. We will also consider research that is not funded by the PCC, as long as it is relevant to anti-doping.
How Do I Get Involved: All posters must be pre-approved by the PCC. You can submit your idea as a brief abstract via the link below. Once you’ve submitted your abstract, you will get an email to approve it. We try to process and approve abstracts as quickly as possible.
