When analyzing samples for the presence of performance enhancing substances, comparability of measurement between WADA’s 30 + worldwide laboratories is vital. Anomalies in this domain have the potential to affect not only the reputations or standing of athletes, but also the public’s trust in sport. This critical need for independent quality control and method validation within laboratory doping analysis led the PCC to fund the production of certified anti-doping reference materials for banned substance analysis, uniquely available to WADA-accredited laboratory directors.
The materials were developed by Dr Stephen Davies and his Chemical Reference Materials team at the National Measurement Institute Australia (NMIA) as part of the 2015 PCC funded grant “The provision of steroid metabolite CRMs and internal standards in support of the Athlete Biological Passport steroid module.”
The following pure substance organic calibration standards are now available to WADA-accredited laboratory directors. NMI will provide a single unit of each material to each accredited laboratory for the cost of delivery. Lab directors wishing to receive reference materials should send a request to the PCC via Jenna Celmer at jcelmer@cleancompetition.org
Please note: individual labs will be responsible for applying for the appropriate import permits to facilitate the importation of reference compounds into their country.
